knks cambodia, child Child Rights and Social Welfare

KNKS prmotes children's rights through community peer education, advocacy for better law enforcement, and intervention on behalf of victims of abuse. We educate families and communities about laws that protect children and impress upon them the consequences of violating those laws.

Our Children's Shelter offers a safe haven for victims of child trafficking, child labor, domestic violence, rape, neglect, or the loss of parents. We work with their families to promote behavioral changes so that these children can be re-intergrated into their communities.

We promote awareness of HIV/AIDS and reproductive health issues through our health library, health education, and referral and counseling programs. All programs are provided to the participants without fees.

knks cambodia - education and skill training

Education and Skill Training

We provide life skills training, literacy classes, mobile libraries, and other non-formal education to disadvantaged village children. Many of these children are unable to attend government-sponsored schools because of the school fees or because the schools are located too far from their villages.

Vocational training programs, such as woodworking, sewing, and food preparation, help our children become self-supporting adults.

Income Generation

KNKS gives small grants to gradutes of our vocational training programs so they can start their own businesses. We provide working capital for the KNKS Community Villa Restaurant and Gift Shop, which trains children in food service skills and provides an income stream for the young artisans we support.

knks cambodia - community organizing

Community Organizing

We train community leaders to create a safe, healthy and enriching environment for their children. This builds a village's capacity to provide basic human rights for its children and families. We work closely with community leaders and train peer educators to build broad and sustainable support for child rights.
